A former city judge and current mayor of Butler, Ind. died May 17 following a motorcycle accident. Floyd "Butch" Coburn served as Butler City judge from 1992 to 2001 before becoming mayor. Coburn, 64, had served as mayor for five years.

He was born and raised in northern Indiana and also worked at Universal Tool and Stamping and Nucor Fastener. Coburn was a member of many community organizations including Butler Eagles, Butler American Legion, and Gold Wing Association. He was an original member of the Butler unit of DeKalb County EMS.

He is survived by his wife, DeNeal Brown; seven sons; two daughters; 26 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. The calling will be Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 212 N. Broadway, Butler; and one hour prior to funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eastside High School Auditorium, 603 E. Green St., Butler.
