The chief justice of the United States Supreme Court will deliver the ninth annual James P. White Lecture on Legal Education at Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis.

Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. will be the first chief justice to participate and the third Supreme Court justice to deliver the lecture. Justice Sandra Day O'Connor gave the inaugural lecture in 2002 and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg spoke in 2007.

The April 7 lecture is invitation only but will be webcast live through a link on the law school's Web site.

Chief Justice Roberts was born in Buffalo, N.Y. but attended grade school and high school in Indiana. He was nominated by President George W. Bush and became chief justice of the nation's highest court Sept. 29, 2005.
