Justices suspend attorneys for not paying fees, doing CLE

June 14, 2011

The Indiana Supreme Court has suspended 210 attorneys for not complying with continuing legal education requirements or nonpayment of attorney registration fees.

The May 26 order was posted this week on the court’s website. It lists those in-state and out-of-state attorneys who have failed to comply with Admission and Discipline Rules requirements to keep an active license in Indiana – 144 failed to pay registration fees and 95 did not keep up on CLE requirements. Some attorneys had been suspended for not complying with both requirements.

The suspensions went into effect when the order was issued for purposes of the reinstatement procedures that must be followed or reinstatement fees that must be paid. The prohibition against practicing law will go into effect June 20.

In 2010, 256 attorneys were suspended for noncompliance with these requirements.
