Statistics released Friday show overall filings in Circuit and District Courts decreased 2.7 percent for the 12-month period ending June 30, 2011, as compared to the same period ending June 30, 2010.
In Indiana, there were 43,422 total filings – 17,286 in the Northern District and 26,136 in the Southern District. The number of filings dropped around 13 percent in the Northern District and dropped nearly 11 percent in the Southern District. Overall, Chapter 7, 11, and 13 filings decreased, but the number of business Chapter 13 filings went up in the Northern District from 21 in 2010 to 32 for the same period in 2011.
There was one more Chapter 12 business filing in the Northern District as compared to last year.
