As a part of the series of events the Indiana Department of Child Services is holding to show appreciation for foster families, a Foster Families Night will be held Aug. 13 at the Gary SouthShore RailCats game.

Indiana licensed foster parents may buy a box or reserved seat ticket and get a hot dog, bag of chips, and soft drink for $10. DCS staff will also be at the game, passing out informational brochures and answering questions. A foster child will throw out the first pitch.

DCS says additional ways to thank Indiana foster parents are also in the works.
