U.S. District Judge Jane Magnus-Stinson will receive the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Hon. Paul H. Buchanan Jr. Award of Excellence, the bar association has announced.

Magnus-Stinson, who was a magistrate in the Southern District before being elevated to Article III judgeship in June 2010, will receive the award at a luncheon in March. The award recognizes her distinguished career as a judge and her leadership in the legal community and community at large.

The award, which is given by the IBA and the Indianapolis Bar Foundation, is named after Judge Paul H. Buchanan Jr., who served on the Indiana Court of Appeals for 22 years and was a former IBA and IBF president. The award is only given when it is “determined to be appropriate,” according to the IBA.
