March 20, 2012

Julie Brill, one of the four current commissioners of the Federal Trade Commission, will speak on “The FTC and Its Commitment to Consumer Privacy” Wednesday at Indiana University Maurer School of Law.

Since joining the commission in 2010, Brill has worked on issues such as protecting consumer privacy, guarding consumers from financial fraud, and maintaining competition in industries involving advanced technology and health care. She will address the mission of the FTC, her own experiences at the commission and in her work in state attorneys general offices with special regard for the challenge of protecting privacy in the face of dramatic technological change.

The public lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. in Room 213 of the law school. A reception will follow. Space is limited. The visit is sponsored by the Wells Scholars Senior Seminar Program and the Center for Law, Ethics and Applied Research in Health Information.
