Franklin attorney dies suddenly from heart attack

A former Bartholomew County public defender died suddenly Feb. 23 in Columbus.

Daniel Bernard Schuetz, 38, suffered a heart attack while exercising at a local gym. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead Saturday at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Schuetz was in private practice at Eggers Woods law firm in Franklin. He was also an adjunct professor in the English department of Franklin College.

He was a 1997 graduate of Franklin College where he was a member of the soccer team. In 1999, he received a master of library science degree at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and then worked at the University of Indianapolis Library and the IUPUI library prior to graduating from Indiana University School of Law in 2006.

Survivors include his wife, Kristin Fellerhoff, and their two daughters; his parents and two siblings. A private memorial service is planned.
