The South Bend school announced Nov. 26 that it had reached new student exchange agreements with Peking University Law School and Tsinghua University School of Law.
Peking University is the oldest law school in China, counting among its graduates the current Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. Tsinghua University’s alumni include the former President of China, Hu Jintao and former Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji.
“The practice of law is increasingly global,” NDLS Dean Nell Jessup Newton said, noting the school’s leadership in international law. “Now our exchange partners are providing our students with a unique opportunity to gain an understanding of how the law functions in other legal systems.
The Peking and Tsinghua exchange program join NDLS’s other semester-law programs at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, and the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile in South America. Notre Dame is also in discussions with Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.
