Vanderburgh County will officially install its new magistrate with a swearing-in and robing ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 3 in the Vanderburgh Circuit Court.

Magistrate Michael Cox was appointed by Judge David Kiely to fill the additional Circuit Court magistrate position that was approved by the 2015 Indiana General Assembly. The Vanderburgh County courts appealed to the Statehouse during the 2014 session as well as the 2015 session before securing the magistrate.

Cox has been in practice for 23 years.
