Interested in the idea of innovation in the practice of law and becoming more involved in the Indianapolis legal community? The IndyBar’s Innovation and Research Council is looking for additional creative minds to join the team. The purpose of the council is to discuss trends and identify ideas and opportunities while answering the question – “Where within the practice of law do gaps exist that the IndyBar could assist by providing or creating a solution(s) to enhance productivity and profitability?”
The council meets twice a year for brainstorming (approximately two hours each meeting) and council members are encouraged to participate in the development of ideas generated by the group. Patent Bar Scholarship Available
The Indianapolis Bar Association Intellectual Property Section is pleased to announce the availability of scholarships to encourage law students who are eligible for the Patent Bar Exam to complete the exam during the summer after their first year. Achieving this goal will enable the students to concentrate on the critical second-summer clerkship and make them more attractive to prospective employers after graduation.
The section will reimburse Patent Bar Exam fees for student members of the IndyBar Intellectual Property Section. Applications are due by May 1 and the scholarship recipients will be announced on May 12. Additional details and requirements can be found at indybar.org/ip.
No Cost One-Day Volunteer Advocate Training Available
Child Advocates will host a one-day course specifically designed to train attorneys to serve as volunteer advocates. This course is offered at no cost to those who complete the class and volunteer with Child Advocates for one year or the life of the case. It is offered for $250 to those who do not commit to volunteer service.
The course will take place at Child Advocates (8200 Haverstick Road, Suite 240) on May 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Graduation for the course will take place on May 24 at 5:30 p.m. It is open to the first 30 applicants.
