A temporary replacement for the judge of the Wabash Superior Court has been appointed as current Judge Christopher Goff prepares to step down from the trial court bench and transition to the Indiana Supreme Court next month.

Goff, who was announced last week as Gov. Eric Holcomb’s pick to replace retired Justice Robert Rucker on the Supreme Court bench, will be unable to perform his trial court duties beginning July 10, and will officially leave the Wabash Superior Court on July 23 to become a justice on July 24. In Goff’s place, Senior Judge Karen A. Springer has been appointed as judge pro tempore of the Wabash Superior Court, effective July 10.

Springer will remain on the Wabash County bench until further order of the court or until a successor appointed by the governor assumes office. She will be entitled to compensation at the same as a regular judge, pursuant to Trial Rule 63(D).
