A longtime Wayne County judge has been appointed the new chairman of the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission. Wayne Superior Court 1 Judge P. Thomas Snow was chosen by Gov. Mitch Daniels to the lead the commission.

The judge will take over as chairman March 16 from interim chair Alex Huskey, who will return to his role as superintendent of the Indiana Excise Police.

Judge Snow has been on the bench in Wayne County since 1989 and has served as a trial judge representative on the Indiana Supreme Court's Rules of Practice and Procedure Committee, and also served on the Judicial Administration Committee.

The governor will name a replacement for Judge Snow. No timeline was announced as to when that appointment may take place.
