The Racing Attorney Conference (TRAC) returns to Charlotte, N.C., for a fresh and new program on Wednesday, April 10, and Thursday, April 11. Now in its fifth year, TRAC combines education (including CLE credits), development and networking with legal and business leaders in the motorsports industry, including NASCAR, IndyCar and NHRA. The event is co-hosted by the Indianapolis and North Carolina bar associations and alternates sites each year.

TRAC will be held at the Hyatt House in the heart of Charlotte. Hotel reservations can be made by calling (704) 373-9700. Room rate for single/double occupancy deluxe room is $169. Hotel cutoff date is March 9.

This year’s conference features topics on motorsports and film, Formula 1, grassroots motorsports and crisis management. Programming is scheduled to include a wide variety of topics:

Industry Panel covering Rulemaking: General Approach; Updates and Amendments, Morals Clauses and Safety

Motorsports & Film (Negotiating Broadcast Contracts. Film Issues, Reality Television, Guild Issues)

Motorsports Accounting, Tax and Incentives Issues

Formula 1 (Structure, Ownership of Assets, Political Setting, Fan Access)

Trade Secrets, Data Security and Privacy Concerns

Legal Issues Regarding Social Media in Motorsports (FTC Guidelines, Promotional Issues, Morals, Liability, Drafting)

Labor Issues (Reductions in force/mass layoffs, Warn Act, COBRA, Workers’ Compensation, FMLA)

Grassroots Motorsports

Servicing Arrangements (NASCAR Rules, Legal Documentation, Tax Issues)

Dealing with Tragedy and the Unexpected
