Candidates are: Magistrate Craig Bobay; John Cowan of Tourkow, Crell Rosenblatt & Johnston, Fort Wayne; Magistrate Jennifer DeGroote; child advocate and former Allen Deputy Prosecutor Laurie Gray; Carrie Hawk Gutman of Hawk Haynie Kammeyer & Chickedantz LLP, Fort Wayne; Allen Deputy Prosecutor Michael McAlexander; Michael Michmerhuizen of Barrett & McNagny LLP, Fort Wayne; and Patrick Proctor of Eilbacher Fletcher LLP, Fort Wayne.
Sims is retiring from his position in the Family Relations Division. State statute particular to Allen County (IC 33-33-2-39) allows Allen County Judge Daniel Heath to transfer from the Civil Division to the Family Relations Division. That means a vacancy will be available in Allen Superior Court, Civil Division.
The Allen Superior Court Judicial Nominating Commission will meet April 25-26 at 9 a.m. in Room 30, Council Committee Room, Citizens Square Building, 200 E. Berry St., Fort Wayne, to interview the applicants. The commission will narrow the candidate to three finalists whose names will be submitted to Gov. Mike Pence for his appointment. The commission interviews are open to the public.
Commission members are Edward Beck, James O’Connor Jr., Suzan Rutz, Angela J. Moellering, Mark W. Terrell and Jonathan C. Ray. Indiana Supreme Court Justice Steven David chairs the commission.
