The third annual March Against Hunger food drive challenge among law firms and lawyers around the state kicks off March 14. The Indiana Attorney General’s Office is teaming up again with the Indiana State Bar Association and Feeding Indiana’s Hungry to encourage the legal community help needy Hoosiers.
March Against Hunger is a competition among the state’s law offices to see who can raise the most money and collect the most food donations in support of 11 regional food banks. Firms compete in four divisions for the “Attorney General’s cup” – large firms, medium-sized firms, small firms and sole practitioners, and public and nonprofit attorneys.
In 2009, 45 law offices around the state participated and raised the equivalent of more than 77 tons of food. Every dollar raised is counted as five pounds of food. Last year, 31 offices participated and raised more than 50 tons of food.
The competition ends March 31. Firms can sign up to participate on the attorney general’s website. For more information, contact Michelle Mayer, director of outreach services for the AG’s office, at (317) 234-6668 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
