Valparaiso law school recognized for reconstruction of Heritage Hall

July 12, 2011

Valparaiso University School of Law was honored by the Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce at the 44th Annual Community Improvement Awards luncheon.

The Chamber of Commerce recognized business properties that have enhanced the attractiveness of the city, shown innovation and creativity in construction, and demonstrated a commitment to economic growth and the overall quality of life in Valparaiso.

The newly reconstructed Heritage Hall was dedicated this year following a two-year reconstruction. Originally built in 1875, it has served as a dormitory and library, among other uses, and now is the home of the Lawyering Skills Center. The reconstruction reflects the original architectural style and incorporates low-impact and energy-efficient building materials, such as a reflective roof. Dean Jay Conison accepted the award on behalf of the university at the luncheon July 6.
