Committees seek comments on proposed amendments

The Judicial Conference of the United States advisory committees on the appellate, bankruptcy, civil, criminal, and evidence rules are seeking comment on proposed amendments to these rules.

The proposed amendments and committee reports are posted on the judiciary’s federal rulemaking website. Public comment is due by Feb. 15, 2012, and may be sent to [email protected] or to the Secretary of the Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure, Administrative Office of the United States Courts, Washington, D.C., 20544.

In addition, the advisory committees will hold public hearings around the country on the proposed amendments. There will be hearings in Chicago on the civil rules on Jan. 27, 2012, and on the bankruptcy rules Feb. 10, 2012. A hearing on the appellate rules will be held Jan. 21, 2012 in Columbus, Ohio.
