Robel named interim provost at IU Bloomington

Indiana University Maurer School of Law Dean Lauren Robel has been named interim provost for IU’s Bloomington campus. She’s filling the role temporarily until a replacement can be found for Karen Hanson, who is leaving in January to become senior vice president and provost at the University of Minnesota.

IU President Michael A. McRobbie appointed Robel on an interim basis, subject to approval by the university’s board of trustees. The board is expected to vote on the appointment at its next regular meeting this week.

Robel – a graduate of the law school – has been dean since 2003. The university plans to form a search committee to find a permanent successor to Hanson, who was provost at IU Bloomington since 2007. There is no timetable set for naming a permanent provost.
