Indianapolis Community Court, the only community court in the state, will host a food and clothing drive April 27 for the David S. Moore Food Pantry located in Community Court in Fountain Square.

The food pantry is named after Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer David Moore, who was killed in 2011 after he was shot during a routine traffic stop.

The Indianapolis Community Court works with community partners and neighborhoods to address the root causes of crime and provides wraparound services and alternatives to incarceration for low-level misdemeanor defendants who are willing to plead guilty to their offenses. The court was established in 2001.

Donations may be made at Community Court, 902 Virginia Ave., Indianapolis, on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Financial contributions may also be made to the David S. Moore Foundation, P.O. Box 39284, Indianapolis IN 46239, with instructions that the contribution is for the “David S. Moore Food Pantry.”

Those interested in helping may also contact Mary Ann Schaefer at St. Joan of Arc Holy Family Ministry at 317-283-5508 to make a donation.
