AG Hill won’t appeal injunction of second-trimester abortion law

Veteran Marion Superior Judge Dreyer to step down after 2020

Longtime Marion Superior Judge David Dreyer will step down after 23 years on the bench when his term expires at the end of 2020, he announced Tuesday. Dreyer, 63, a 23-year judge who has presided in civil and criminal cases on the state trial court bench in Indianapolis, said in a news release that he intends to seek senior judge status and continue hearing cases.

Appeal from the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, Indianapolis Division. Senior Judge Sarah Evans Barker.
Civil plenary. Affirms summary judgment for Stephen Robinson and the Indiana Department of Insurance on American Homeland’s suit alleging the department discriminated against it for the loss of its licenses for its out-of-state residency. Finds that because American Homeland surrendered its licenses in its agreement with the department and has provided no valid reason to void that agreement, judicial review is unavailable.

Justices reverse conviction over incomplete advisement forms

A Knox County man had his misdemeanor conviction overturned after the Indiana Supreme Court found he did not validly waive his right to a jury trial. Justices also used the ruling to advise trial courts of best practices in misdemeanor cases.
