An Indianapolis man convicted of murder in the 2017 shooting deaths of three people has been sentenced to 170 years in prison. Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced Friday that Kenneth Lancaster was sentenced for the June 1, 2017, murders of Jessica Carte, Keith Higgins and Mark Higgins.

10 Clark Co. inmates charged in alleged jail drug-smuggling scheme

Ten inmates at a southern Indiana jail are charged in an alleged scheme that authorities say used codes to help smuggle drugs into the jail. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office says the inmates worked with an outside contact who picked up drugs and hid them in the jail’s lobby, which inmates cleaned.

Gary gunman acquitted of attempted murder in Walmart lot shooting

A man who claimed he was acting in self-defense when he fired 16 shots outside a northwestern Indiana Walmart store has been acquitted of the most serious charges against him. A Lake County jury convicted 27-year-old Alex Hughes of Gary on a criminal recklessness charge Friday for the September 2018 shooting in Hobart but found him not guilty of attempted murder and two other charges.

Civil. Affirms the Southern District Court’s grant of summary judgment to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office against Brigid Ford’s discriminatory employment practice claims. Finds the district court properly granted partial summary judgment as to some of Ford’s claims and exercised its discretion fairly to manage the trial on the remaining claims.

Civil plenary. Affirms the Marion Superior Commercial Court’s order confirming a $3,107,200 award plus interest to Christine Mullholand against SGS North America, Inc, which purchased her company Cybermetrix, Inc. Finds the designated auditor’s determination of the parties’ earnout dispute constitutes a binding arbitration award. Finds the trial court did not err in granting Mullholand’s application for confirmation of arbitration award and in denying SGS’s motion to dismiss her application for the same reasons.
