Lake Superior Court Judge Clarence D. Murray will temporarily step down from his seat on the bench after informing the court that he would be unable to perform the duties of his office due to health reasons.

Senior Judge Michael Pagano, who temporarily served in Murray’s place as judge pro tempore beginning March 13, had his appointment rescinded on Tuesday after the senior judge announced he is no longer available to serve as judge pro tempore.

Thus, Senior Judge Pera by separate order, was appointed to temporarily serve as judge pro tempore in his place effective June 17, 2020 through June 21, 2020.

After Pera’s term is up, attorney Jamise Yolanda Perkins will serve as judge pro tempore in the Lake Superior Court, Criminal Division 2, beginning on June 22, 2020. According to the Indiana Roll of Attorneys, Perkins is currently with the firm Jamise Perkins Attorney at Law in Crown Point.

Indiana Supreme Court justices therefore ordered Pera’s pro tempore appointment be rescinded on June 21, 2020 and Perkins appointed to the post effective June 22, 2020. She shall remain as judge pro tempore until further order of the high court.

Perkins will be compensated at the same rate as the regular judge commencing from the effective date of her appointment. While Pera is in the temporary post, he will be entitled to compensation for his service at the same rate as the regular judge commencing from the effective date of his appointment.
