Rebecca L. Balanoff was reinstated effective Aug. 5, per an order signed by Indiana Chief Justice Loretta Rush on Tuesday. The order says the executive director of the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission filed a certificate of compliance on the same day Balanoff was reinstated.
Balanoff was suspended in May after she failed to respond to a December 2021 order to show cause as to why she should not be immediately suspended for failure to cooperate with the commission’s investigation of a grievance against her. The commission filed a “Request for Ruling and to Tax Costs” on March 25, to which Balanoff also hadn’t responded.
She was ordered to pay $529.38 for the costs of prosecuting the proceeding in 21S-DI-554.
According to the Indiana Roll of Attorneys, Balanoff is in active and good standing and has no other disciplinary history.
Balanoff has previously been listed on the Roll of Attorneys as practicing in Merrillville, but she is now listed as being located in Colorado.
