Agriculture Law Foundation gets cy pres money

Keywords Courts / neglect

The Indiana Agricultural Law Foundation will receive $500,000 in funds made available through a class action settlement of a case in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Indiana. The case, Uhl v. Thoroughbred Technology and Telecommunications, Inc., involved fiber optic cable installation on land adjacent to railroad rights of way.

The IALF was established by the Indiana Farm Bureau in 2005 to further the understanding of agricultural legal issues and to provide financial support in the resolution of those legal issues. As a requirement of receiving the cy pres funds, the IALF will use the funds for education of and enforcement of property rights in cases that affect landowners.
