Marietto “Mario” V. Massillamany, an attorney and former spokesperson for then-Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi, has been publicly reprimanded by the Indiana Supreme Court for driving drunk.
Massillamany was arrested in March 2010 in Hamilton County after police stopped him for speeding and driving in the wrong lane. He was charged with two Class A misdemeanors: operating while intoxicated endangering a person, and operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to 0.15 or more. He pleaded guilty to the first charge in December. As part of the plea agreement, he served 32 days in jail and his driver’s license was suspended through October 2012.
The justices handed down the public reprimand May 17, finding Massillamany violated Indiana Professional Conduct Rule 8.4(d), which prohibits engaging in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice.
Massillamany was the spokesman for the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, but resigned after the arrest. He is now with the Logansport firm Starr Austen & Miller.
