The Indiana Supreme Court has approved the 2012 master list for jury pool assembly, ordering courts to use that list instead of directly contacting the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles for data.

The list is created by the Jury Committee and the Judicial Technology & Automation Committee by using data from the BMV and Indiana Department of Revenue, and is divided into individual county lists. The order states that counties may compile their jury pool from voter registration lists for a county, supplemented with property tax records, telephone directories, and/or utility customer lists. Trial courts must identify and report what sources will be used to assemble the jury pool and what method is used to comply with the Jury Orientation Program Minimum Standards.

The order also contains a form for judges to complete by Nov. 30 regarding jury pools and jury orientation.
