Paralegals collect thousands of teddy bears for program

The IndyBar Paralegal Committee Thursday delivered the thousands of teddy bears it has collected from various law firms to the “Bears on Patrol” program. The program is run by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Indianapolis Fire Department and Wishard Health Services EMS.

Last year, the committee collected nearly 3,200 stuffed animals for the program. Public safety officers use the stuffed animals to comfort children they encounter in the legal system and who are often exposed to violence, trauma or abuse.

For three years in a row, the paralegals of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP have earned the certificate of recognition for the most teddy bears collected by a law firm.

The stuffed animals were delivered at the committee’s annual holiday luncheon Thursday afternoon.
