The Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission brings charges against attorneys who have violated the state’s rules for admission to the bar and Rules of Professional Conduct. The Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications brings charges against judges, judicial officers, or judicial candidates for misconduct. Details of attorneys’ and judges’ actions for which they are being disciplined by the Supreme Court will be included unless they are not a matter of public record under the court’s rules.

Public admonition
Fremont Town Court Judge Martha C. Hagerty received a public admonition from the Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications Feb. 9. It is a result of Hagerty assuming the role of prosecutor, permitting traffic ticket deferral payments to be sent directly to the court rather than to the prosecutor, and engaging in ex parte communication. The Indiana Supreme Court gives the commission the discretion to issue an admonition instead of filing formal charges against a judge when it determines the admonition sufficiently addresses the misconduct and the judge consents to that resolution.

Resignation
Jennifer M. Campbell, of Lake County, resigned from the bar, effective Feb. 6. Any disciplinary proceedings pending against her were dismissed as moot as a result. She must wait five years before petitioning for reinstatement.

Suspension
Robert E. Stochel, of Lake County, was suspended by the Indiana Supreme Court on Feb. 6 after the Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission filed a verified petition for emergency interim suspension. Read more.•
