The Indiana chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists recognized the Indiana Lawyer’s editorial team April 24 at a ceremony honoring “outstanding contributions in reporting events of public importance.”

The newspaper received a first place award for print headline writing in 2014. The winning headlines were the May 7, 2014, “Tiger by the tail,” the July 2, 2014, “Judge says no to Love but yes to marriage,” and the Aug. 13, 2014, “Rush to the top.”

Reporter Dave Stafford received a second place award for his reporting in “Photo Fight.” Stafford told the story in this April 9, 2014, article of an Indianapolis attorney who sued hundreds over what he challenged as an unauthorized use of his Indianapolis skyline photo.

“Accolades like this aren’t necessary, but they are very nice because they tell us that others in our profession believe we are doing a good job,” said Kelly Lucas, editor and publisher of the Indiana Lawyer. “This newspaper’s editorial staff works hard to deliver accurate and timely legal news. It is a responsibility we don’t take lightly.”
