The Indianapolis Bar Association is proud to recognize Arlene L. Morris of Whitham Hebenstreit & Zubek as the association’s Paralegal of the Year for 2015. Morris will be recognized for this honor at the IndyBar Paralegal Appreciation Luncheon, to be held Thursday, July 30 from noon to 1 p.m. at The Conrad Hotel.

Morris joined the Indianapolis Bar Association in 1994. She is Vice Chair for the association’s Paralegal Committee and is in her second year of chairing the IndyBar Paralegal Committee’s Bears on Patrol Teddy Bear Drive. Last year, more than 3,600 bears were collected through the drive and donated to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Marion County Sheriff Department, Indianapolis Fire Department and Indianapolis EMS. Emergency officials are then able to provide the bears—and some comfort—to children in traumatic situations.

In addition to her service to the IndyBar, Morris is also an active volunteer for the Indiana Paralegal Association (IPA). She currently serves as Vice President of IPA and has successfully chaired and organized the association’s Charitable Partner Silent Auction, which is held in conjunction with the IPA Holiday Party. In 2014, $2,600 was raised for Out Reach, a charity to assist homeless teens in Indy.

Morris’ nomination notes, “One of the traits I consider particularly important is Arlene’s dedication to the legal community, and in particular, the IndyBar. She does not seek the limelight. Rather, Arlene prefers to ‘fly under the radar.’ She derives satisfaction from her successful accomplishments rather than seeking reward and glory.”
