Bankruptcy cases filed in federal courts for the fiscal year 2015 are down 11 percent as compared to FY 2014, the Administrative Office of the United States Courts announced Wednesday.

For the 12-month filing period ending Sept. 30, 2015, there were 860,182 cases filed, the lowest number of bankruptcy filings for any 12-month period since 2007, according to the Administrative Office. This is the fifth consecutive fiscal year filings have fallen.

The Northern District of Indiana had a total of 11,033 filings during this time period, a 7.7 percent drop in filings as compared to the 11,952 filings in FY 2014. The Southern District of Indiana saw a 10.3 percent decrease in filings, with 16,270 cases filed in FY 2015 as compared to 18,147 filings last fiscal year.
