The former Vanderburgh County courthouse is among the city's most recognizable landmarks and is now filled with offices for several businesses and organizations.
The Evansville Courier & Press reports the new lights will be turned on during a Friday evening ceremony after more than 15 years of the clock tower being in the dark.
County buildings superintendent Kristin Comer says the old lights attached to each of the courthouse's four domes to illuminate the tower were inoperable and couldn't be repaired.
The new lighting is a remote-controlled LED system that will shine different colored lights on the tower depending on the occasion. The installation was paid for by the Old Courthouse Foundation.
