The estate of a 44-year-old woman who was fatally shot while shopping in a northern Indiana grocery store two years ago has filed a lawsuit against the store's chain.

The South Bend Tribune reports the estate of Rachelle Godfread filed a lawsuit Wednesday seeking unspecified damages from South Bend-based Martin's Super Market. Godfread and 20-year-old Martin's employee Krystle Dikes were fatally shot in an Elkhart store two years ago on Jan. 15, 2014. Twenty-two-year-old gunman Shawn Bair also died.

The lawsuit alleges Martin's failed to take appropriate steps to prevent and respond to such an attack.

The lawsuit seeks medical expenses, funeral costs, attorney fees, estate costs and other related expenses for Godfread's two sons.

A Martin's spokeswoman told The Associated Press that the chain had no comment.
