The 7th Circuit Pattern Jury Instruction Committee has released revised pattern Section 1983 civil jury instructions which will be available for comment through Friday.

The changes include new instructions on public employee’s First Amendment political affiliation claims; Fourth Amendment: Terry stops, medical care for arrestees, excessive detention that is less than 48 hours; failure to protect from self-harm; equal protection: class of one; due process: state-created danger and compensatory damages in prisoner cases. The instructions also include reorganization of some statutes and creation of new sections from older statutes.

The proposed changes can be found here.
