It’s a bit of musical chairs in Henry Circuit Court to fill the vacancy Judge Mary G. Willis will create when she leaves July 22 to become the Indiana Supreme Court’s new chief administrative officer.

In an order issued Friday from the Supreme Court, Senior Judge Jack Tandy has been assigned as senior judge in the court to discharge the duties of judge of Circuit Court 1, where Willis served. But Tandy will be working on a part-time basis, so the Supreme Court temporarily transferred Circuit Judge Kit C. Dean Crane from Circuit Court 2 and Judge Bob A. Witham from Circuit Court 3 to Circuit Court 1 to facility the judicial work of the court.  The two said they are willing to serve at times when Tandy is not available.

The arrangement will remain until Sept. 30, when Tandy’s assignment ends, or whenever the governor’s appointee assumes office, whichever occurs first. Tandy will begin serving as a senior judge Aug. 1.

The Supreme Court announced last month that Willis has been select as the first CAO for the court. Willis has been a judge in Henry County since 2003.
