Holder, who served as the 82nd U.S. Attorney General from 2009 to 2015, will deliver remarks at the university at 2 p.m. on Sept. 19. Prior to his public remarks, Holder will meet with Anderson students majoring in national security studies.
Holder’s visit to the school is sponsored by the Anderson University National Security Studies Fellows, a program that connects students with professionals who have experience in the realm of national security. Prior to becoming U.S. Attorney General, Holder served as a judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and U.S. attorney for D.C. He has also served as deputy attorney general of the United States and practiced at the D.C.-based firm Covington & Burling, which he rejoined after his time as attorney general.
“Holder brings to AU a wealth of experience earned during his remarkable career as a public servant in D.C.,” university President John S. Pistole said in a statement Monday. “His appearance will be a valuable opportunity for all of us as we live out our mission to educate our students for a life of faith and service in the church and society.”
The Fellows also recently hosted former FBI Director Robert Mueller, who is now serving as special counsel in the federal investigation into possible links between Russia and the Trump campaign.
Holder’s address will be given in the school’s York Performance Hall. His 2 p.m. remarks are free and open to the public.
Constitution Day, Sept. 17, celebrates the ratification of the U.S. Constitution.
