Six of the 12 applicants who applied to fill an upcoming vacancy on the Indiana Court of Appeals have been selected as semi-finalists who will participate in a second round of interviews later this month. The semi-finalists are:

• Magistrate Judge Deborah A. Domine
• Judge Steven L. Hostetler
• Jaime Oss
• Judge Elizabeth Tavitas
• Andrew L. Teel
• David C. Van Gilder

The Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission voted on the six semi-finalists Tuesday after interviewing all 12 applicants on Monday morning, on Monday afternoon, and on Tuesday morning.

The six semi-finalists will sit for a second round of interviews with the JNC on May 16. The commission will then select three finalists to send to Gov. Eric Holcomb for consideration and final appointment.

The person selected will fill the vacancy left by Judge Michael Barnes, who is retiring on June 1. Barnes currently serves as the presiding judge of the court’s Third District, which encompasses northern Indiana and includes Judges Paul Mathias and Terry Crone.
