Don’t have much time, but want to lend a hand? Ask A Lawyer, a two-hour legal advice program, may be right for you.
Ask a Lawyer is the IndyBar’s largest pro bono event, taking place twice each year at locations throughout the city. Ask a Lawyer connects individuals seeking legal guidance with free face-to-face and call-in assistance from an IndyBar volunteer attorney. We’re looking for volunteers for the Oct. 9 event.
Volunteers take on just one two-hour shift and are provided with a resource guide to help in assisting the public with questions on divorce, guardianship, child custody, child support, landlord/tenant issues, bankruptcy, personal injury, criminal law, employment law and more. Both attorney and paralegal volunteers are needed, and law students are encouraged to shadow attorneys during the event. Interested? Email Arnetta Scruggs at firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer.
