A recently retired Lake Superior Court judge will temporarily return to the bench as a judge pro tempore.

The Indiana Supreme Court has appointed former Judge Diane Kavadias Schneider as judge pro tempore in Lake Superior Court, Civil Division 5, in preparation for an upcoming vacancy that will be left by Judge William E. Davis. Schneider will temporarily replace Davis, who announced his retirement from the Lake Superior Court earlier this week.

Schneider’s term in Lake Superior Court, Civil Division 5, will begin May 1 and will continue until a successor is appointed or until further order of the court. Schneider herself retired in February, and three finalists seeking to succeed her have been selected by the Lake County Judicial Nominating Commission.

Applicants for Davis’ seat are expected to be interviewed in May. Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb will have 60 days after receiving written evaluations of the finalists to appoint successors for both retired judges.
