By Kevin Morrissey, Lewis Kappes PC

It is a common fallacy that the best litigators are aggressive “bulldogs” who beat opponents into submission with raised voices and hard-nose tactics. In fact, the best litigators utilize preparation, knowledge and dedication to resolve matters efficiently, whether through mediation or trial. Jim Zoccola is the epitome of the latter; an attorney worthy of recognition for his civility.

James Zoccola consistently exemplifies the highest caliber of professionalism and respect in the practice of law. Jim represents the qualities that all attorneys should emulate. He is a leader within the legal and local community as well as an exceptional mentor and role model for young attorneys. Jim handles challenging situations with grace and proves that civility produces better outcomes for clients. The Indianapolis Bar Association Professionalism Committee is pleased to extend its Nod to Professionalism to Jim.

Jim graduated from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 1991 and has regularly litigated multimillion-dollar cases in numerous jurisdictions. Jim has been a leader within local youth sports, Meridian Hills Country Club, Law Firm Alliance and Lewis Kappes PC. On a daily basis, Jim demonstrates the value of a civil approach to litigation and is widely respected by clients and opposing counsel alike. Jim is a man of his word, building trust with all stakeholders in the litigation process. It is not surprising that Jim regularly settles large, complex multiparty cases before or through mediation simply by virtue of his measured approach to litigation.

The Professionalism Committee compliments Jim on his continued dedication to professionalism and civility within the Indianapolis legal community. If you know someone deserving of our next Nod to Professionalism, submit your nomination to [email protected] for consideration in July.•
