Allen County Magistrate Lori Morgan has been named a judge of the Allen Superior Court, Gov. Eric Holcomb announced Tuesday.

Morgan will succeed Allen Superior Judge Charles F. Pratt, who retired this month from the Allen Superior Court, Family Relations Division. Morgan is currently a magistrate in that division.

Morgan has served the Allen Superior Courts for 26 years. Prior to that, she was a solo practitioner.

She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from the University of Iowa. She will be sworn in as a judge on a date to be determined.

Holcomb selected Morgan from a group of three finalists that also included magistrate judges Ashley Hand and Sherry Hartzler. A total of four candidates interviewed for Pratt’s vacancy – the finalists and lawyer Matthew Skeens.

The Allen Superior Court Judicial Nominating Commission, led by Indiana Supreme Court Justice Steven David, interviewed the four candidates and submitted the names of the finalists to the governor in March.
