The Allen County Bar Foundation is again offering a law school scholarship with the goal of supporting and advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in the local legal community.

Applications will be accepted beginning Feb. 15 through March 31 for the Legal Opportunity Scholarship. This is the third year ACBF is offering the scholarship to law students.

The scholarship will provide up to $2,500 to a law student for tuition and fees or for bar exam preparation, and up to $1,500 for an undergraduate student preparing to take the Law School Admissions Test.

This year, Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP and Stewart Richardson Deposition Services contributed to the scholarship.

“The Scholarship’s focus on diversity strengthens our community by broadening ethnic and cultural perspectives within a framework of tolerance and respect,” Doug Powers, president of the foundation said, in a news release.

The scholarships will be awarded in May and will be made payable to the student’s school or a testing or examination preparation company.

Last year’s award recipients included Annemaria Farrell, Rosalina Perez and Thierno Diallo.

To apply, students must be planning to take the LSAT and apply to law school, preparing to enter law school or be enrolled in law school; describe how they support or advance diversity, equity and inclusion; be from or intend to work in Allen County; and demonstrate financial need.

The application includes a copy of a student’s 2023-2024 school financial aid package, resume, school transcript, and a recommendation form and letter of recommendation.
