The Allen County Bar Association and the Allen County Bar Foundation will be hosting a free community discussion to foster a deeper understanding of diversity and inclusion.

“An Uncomfortable Conversation on Race” will begin at 5 p.m. June 30 at the Clyde Theatre, 1808 Bluffton Road, Fort Wayne. The 90-minute event is free and will include light refreshments along with a cash bar and additional food available for purchase.

Gina Forrest, PhD, Aspire Health Indiana chief culture officer and former chief diversity officer for the Indiana Supreme Court’s Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, will open the conversation with an overview of race, diversity, equity and inclusion. This will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Patti Hays, AWS Foundation CEO and co-founder of Advancing Voices of Women.

The panelists are:

  • Marlon Wardlow, Parkview Health senior vice president of equity and inclusion
  • Nikki Quintana, Fort Wayne Metropolitan Human Relations Commission executive director
  • Rick Hawks, The Chapel founding pastor

Also during the evening, the bar foundation will announce its three diversity scholarship recipients. The scholarship was established in 2022 and is intended to increase racial among local attorneys.

Those planning to attend the events are encouraged to register online.
