An Anderson attorney has been suspended from the practice of law after being found guilty of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, according to the Indiana Supreme Court.

Attorney Evan Broderick’s suspension is effective immediately. The court issued its disciplinary order Dec. 9.

He had already been suspended without automatic reinstatement in a separate attorney discipline case that was settled in 2020.

Broderick did not immediately respond to The Indiana Lawyer’s request for comment.

According to public records, Broderick was working as an Anderson assistant city attorney in September 2018 when his first disciplinary case was filed.

On Sept. 5, 2018, Broderick was drinking alcohol at home when he was unexpectedly summoned to attend a Board of Zoning Appeals meeting.

After leaving the meeting, he went to a bar to drink again and upon leaving, he was involved in a single-vehicle crash, where he subsequently left the scene.

When he was found by police, he allegedly refused to take field sobriety tests.

Broderick was eventually charged with several offenses and later pleaded guilty to OWI with endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident, both misdemeanors.

He resigned from his assistant city attorney position following his arrest.

While his first disciplinary case was pending, Broderick was again arrested and charged with OWI and leaving the scene of an accident for an incident that occurred in July 2020.

For that disciplinary case, Broderick was suspended without automatic reinstatement, beginning in October 2020.

His interim suspension in his most recent case will continue until further order of the supreme court or final resolution of any resulting disciplinary action.

The case is In the Matter of Evan Buck Broderick, 25S-DI-00285.
