Applications are being accepted through Aug. 10 for a pending vacancy in the bankruptcy court for the Northern District of Indiana in South Bend.

Qualified applicants may apply here through the Judicial Council of the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.

The term of office is 14 years and the current salary is $199,088. Applicants will be reviewed without discrimination as to race, color, sex, disability, religion or national origin.

Applicants should be admitted to practice in at least one state court and be members in good standing of every bar of which they are members. Applicants also should possess and have a reputation for integrity and good character and be of sound physical and mental health.

Additionally, applicants must possess and have demonstrated a commitment to equal justice under law, among other qualifications.

Pursuant to Section 120 of the Bankruptcy Amendments and Federal Judgeship Act of 1984, the 7th Circuit Judicial Council will make recommendations to the United States Court of Appeals, which will make the appointment.

The appointed judge will succeed Judge Harry C. Dees Jr., who is currently serving on the court in recall status. Dees was appointed Oct.1, 1986, and served as chief judge from January 2003 to January 2010.

Dees plans to fully retire in July 2021, according to the 7th. Circuit.
