The position was posted online on Monday and comes a few months after former chief administrative officer Justin Forkner stepped down. Forkner, who had held the post since 2018 and oversaw the Office of Judicial Administration and its roughly 240 employees, joined the northwest Indiana law firm Allen Law Group.
The chief administrative officer serves as the link between the state Supreme Court and its Office of Judicial Administration, according to a recent job posting. The officer would work closely with the court and Chief Justice Loretta Rush, providing information, analysis, advice and recommendations on issues impacting the legal profession.
A day in the life of the CAO includes leading a cohesive and proactive management team to guide the operations of the court and the OJA, representing the court on state and national entities such as the Conference of State Court Administrators, the Board of Trustees of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute and the Justice Reinvestment Advisory Council, and directly supervising senior managers and the executive coordinator.
Candidates must have extensive organizational leadership and management experience, along with a Juris Doctorate or a master’s degree in business, judicial or public administration, or a relevant bachelor’s degree. The candidate must also have “thorough knowledge of Indiana’s court system, state government, and legal profession,” according to the job posting.
Applications are due by April 17. The job posting can be found here.
