An Evansville attorney’s noncooperation suspension has become indefinite due to his continued failure to cooperate with the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission.

Kurt A. Schnepper was ordered to show cause on Feb. 21 as to why he shouldn’t be immediately suspended for failing to cooperate with the Disciplinary Commission’s investigation into two grievances filed against him.

In March, Schnepper filed identical unverified responses for each case in which he acknowledged his noncooperation to date and claimed his intention to cooperate. However, the commission on April 4 filed a “Request for Ruling and to Tax Costs” in each case, asserting Schnepper had still failed to cooperate, to which Schnepper did not respond.

Thus, on May 5, Schnepper was suspended for noncompliance.

Then on Thursday, with Schnepper still having failed to respond to cooperate or respond, his suspension became indefinite pursuant to Admission and Discipline Rule 23(10.1)(c)(4).

Schnepper has been ordered to fulfill the continuing duties of a suspended attorney under Admission and Discipline Rule 23(26). To be readmitted to the practice of law, he must cure the causes of all suspensions in effect and successfully petition the Indiana Supreme Court for reinstatement pursuant to Admission and Discipline Rule 23(18)(b).

According to the Indiana Roll of Attorneys, Schnepper, who was admitted to practice law in the Hoosier State in 2000, has two disciplinary cases concluded against him, 22S-DI-61 and 22S-DI-2.
