Gammage announced his retirement from the bench in March.
Gammage brings more than three decades of legal experience to THK, including his years presiding over civil and criminal matters in circuit court. Prior to that, he worked as a deputy prosecutor, public defender, and managing partner at a local law firm.
“I was motivated to join THK because I know the firm to be one of professionalism and integrity. A firm committed, like me, to community outreach and inclusion,” Gammage said in an email.
THK Law’s practice areas include business counsel, estate and tax planning, trust administration, elder law, and litigation. In his new role, Gammage will focus his practice in the areas of business law, civil litigation, and mediation.
“Andre brings not only legal depth, but also a strong sense of community connection and leadership to our firm,” said Eric Seigel, Managing Partner of THK Law. “His experience on the bench, in the classroom, and in the courtroom will be a tremendous asset to our clients and our team.”
In addition to his work in the courtroom, Gammage also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Notre Dame Law School, teaching Intensive Trial Advocacy. He’s also a certified mediator and has served on committees for the Indiana Supreme Court and Indiana Court of Appeals.
He’s held roles in numerous organizations, including the YMCA of Greater Michiana, the Urban League of St. Joseph County, and the South Bend Redevelopment Authority.
