A Fort Wayne woman whose 5-month-old son died after she brought him to a hospital with bruising and head trauma has been charged with neglect of a dependent.

The (Fort Wayne) Journal Gazette reported Monday that the child was pronounced dead at Parkview Randallia Hospital minutes after Jasmine M. Johnson brought him to the emergency room.

Doctors told police the child, who was unresponsive when 30-year-old Johnson brought him to the hospital, had what appeared to be traumatic head injuries.

The paper reports that police said Johnson was charged after she told detectives she had been drinking all night and that when she awoke the child was on the floor.

Johnson does not have a listed telephone number and could not be reached for comment.
